GRISON
One individual of Grison ( Galictis vittata ) was captured by the camera traps system at Napo Wildlife Center, Yasunì National Park, Amazonia Ecuador. The trail where the mustelid was photographed corresponds to firm land forest at only one km. away from the lodge.

Grison is small and flat, has a long, thin body with narrow chest, short legs, short bushy tail, and long neck. The head is small and flat with short, broad, rounded ears. The iris is dark brown or black

This terrestrial carnivore belongs to Mustelidae family and inhabits the forests of Central and South America. This species is close related to Tayras and otters. The gestation is 39 -40 days and youngs are born in March, May, June, August and Fall .

The grisons are nocturnal and diurnal. They feed basically on small rodents and live in crevices, beneath tree roots.
